‘Exploding pinecones’ exacerbating wildfires in France, says eyewitness

"Exploding pinecones" are making it even harder to contain the wildfires in France, an eyewitness has told Sky News.

Jez Cartwright was on holiday in the Cap Ferret peninsula when the fires broke out.

He told Sky News: "One of the problems we heard, was that there were a lot of pine trees in this area and the pinecones were basically exploding and flying up to 700 metres in the air."
