Devastating fires are still burning across western Europe. A blaze raging in the hills west of Madrid has become Spain’s largest ever, while another outside Bordeaux in southwestern France has burnt through an area four times the size of Paris. Firefighters have faced a race against time to contain the fires before the arrival of a heatwave.
Some 360,000 people have been evacuated across both countries.
