Indian police and paramilitary forces used batons, water cannon and tear gas on student protesters outside the state assembly in Jharkhand on August 10. The demonstrators, who have been protesting since late last month over alleged exam paper leaks and recruitment irregularities, say they will continue their campaign for an overhaul of the state’s examination system. The action follows earlier youth protests in Delhi that led to the resignation of the national education minister.
