Live tracker of Hurricane Lala as it approaches Hawaii’s Big Island, with the Category 1 storm threatening a rare landfall.
The National Hurricane Centre said Lala’s maximum sustained winds reached 75 mph Saturday, with the eyewall forecast to move over or near the island’s southern end.
Up to 25 inches of rain could fall at higher elevations, potentially causing life-threatening flooding and mudslides.
