25 years after the September 11 attacks, the milestone anniversary has brought memorials, vigils and readings of the names of the almost 3,000 people killed.
Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial jets, crashing them into New York’s World Trade Centre twin towers, and the Pentagon outside Washington.
The fourth plane came down in a field in Pennsylvania, after passengers fought and overcame the hijackers.
