Massive Israeli military detonations along the Ali Taher ridge in Nabatieh, Lebanon, triggered a 4.1-magnitude earthquake on September 10, according to the United States Geological Survey. Israel stated it used more than 1,100 tons of explosives, allegedly to demolish Hezbollah underground tunnels. The massive explosions sent shockwaves and triggered seismic activity recorded across the region.
In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz said that Israeli forces would continue occupying the area. The demolition comes amid reports of a new round of bilateral talks scheduled between Lebanon and Israel next week. Israel has killed at least 4,383 people and injured 12,406 others in Lebanon since March 2, according to the latest figures released by the Health Ministry.
