Over 100 families were left homeless after a massive fire broke out at Kuda Village in Dimapur, Nagaland, India on September 23. The blaze quickly spread through the village, home to an estimated 200 to 300 densely packed bamboo and tin-roof structures, inhabited primarily by daily wage earners and auto-rickshaw drivers.
Firefighters battled the flames for nearly two hours before bringing the blaze under control. Officials suspect that an electrical short circuit caused the fire. While no casualties were reported, they noted that the exact number of damaged houses is yet to be confirmed.
