A number of properties in Whelford, Gloucestershire, have been evacuated following a major incident being declared. Counter Terrorism police are leading the investigation near RAF Fairford.
Police have further arrested five men on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act, after they were originally arrested under suspicion of committing offences under the Explosives Act.
In a news conference, Assistant Chief Constable Richard Ocone said police received a call at around 12:45am today "relating to three suspicious vehicles travelling towards RAF Fairford."
