During a visit to an Israeli prison, far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stood behind armed guards and told Palestinian prisoner Hassan Salameh he wanted him killed. “I want to kill you. I want to have you executed,” he said, adding that he wanted Salameh to experience “hell here.”
The Knesset passed a Ben-Gvir-backed law in March 2026 making hanging the default sentence for Palestinians convicted in occupied West Bank military courts.
