A group of student protesters disrupted an AI panel in Manhattan during NYC Climate Week on Wednesday.
Activists disrupted NVIDIA’s head of sustainability, Josh Parker, while he was attending an event, according to footage shared by the Sunrise Movement.
“These corporations and data centres are responsible for climate disaster!” a protester shouted while being removed by security.“You say you care about sustainability? You emitted 15 million tons of CO₂,” another protester said.
In another clip, a protester referred to a $500 million investment deal with Tel Aviv, while another raised concerns that NVIDIA chips were being used by the Israeli military.
“Shame on NYC Climate Week for inviting AI billionaires to sit on panels and greenwash their climate-destroying, genocide-enabling business model,” the Sunrise Movement wrote on X. “Young people aren’t having it. All week, we’ve been hounding AI executives. They don’t deserve a moment’s peace.”
