A Thai man who was filmed riding a jet ski through flooded Bangkok received a suspended jail sentence on Monday for causing a public nuisance, The South China Morning Post reported.
The video sparked outrage online and was widely seen as an example of the perceived insensitivity of some of the city’s wealthy toward the suffering of poorer residents as they grapple with the worst floods in 15 years.
Until now, more than 100 people have been killed as heavy rains and flooding battered parts of Thailand, India and Myanmar, affecting millions of people, local authorities and media reported on Tuesday.
