US murderer Christa Pike survives double lethal dose in execution attempt | DW News

Witnesses have detailed the horrors of the botched execution of a 50-year-old murderer in Tennessee. Christa Pike would have been the first woman in the state to be executed in about 200 years, but two lethal injections failed to kill her. Now she is receiving life-saving care in hospital. DW’s Ben Fajzullin asks Corinna Lain from the University of Richmond School of Law what went wrong, why and what’s next.
