German and US scientists honored for research into brain chemistry | DW News

The 2026 Nobel Prize for medicine has been awarded to American Karl Deisseroth, and Germans Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel. They were recognized for their discoveries on light and optogenetics. The Nobel Assembly at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute said their work was being used in labs around the world "to reveal the brain’s mysteries."
