The Saudi‑backed Yemeni government has just announced a major offensive aimed at retaking Houthi‑controlled areas. Houthi forces launched a major offensive in recent weeks, seizing control of a large swath of Yemen’s Red Sea coast. The Iran-backed rebels were advancing on the southwestern city of Taiz – which sits at the junction of Yemen’s main highways, making it a vital point for controlling the flow of troops and supplies.
