China and North Korea open New Yalu River Bridge after 12-year delay

China and North Korea officially opened the long-delayed New Yalu River Bridge on October 15, their most significant land border crossing. Trucks lined up on the 3-kilometre bridge ahead of the crossing as crowds gathered on the Chinese side.

The opening aims to revive trade following pandemic disruptions and reflects progress in bilateral relations between Beijing and Pyongyang, marked by two summit meetings between their leaders in the past year.
