Nigeria confirmed its first Ebola case of the current outbreak in a female patient who travelled from Uganda to the capital, Abuja. The patient is receiving medical care in isolation, while health authorities have identified 44 close contacts and launched contact-tracing efforts to prevent further transmission. Nigeria is the first West African country to report a case linked to the current Ebola outbreak in East Africa, and successfully contained a previous outbreak in 2014.
