Hospitals deliberately targeted by Sudan’s RSF fighters, BBC finds | BBC News

The fall of el-Fasher in Sudan in October 2025 was on the most brutal chapters of the civil war that has raged between the government’s Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Now, a BBC investigation has found evidence RSF fighters systematically destroyed the city’s healthcare system during their long siege and subsequent takeover.

UN human rights chief Volker Türk called the findings "deeply disturbing", saying multiple attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on civilian infrastructure, including health facilities, were serious violations of international humanitarian law and may amount to war crimes.

The RSF rejected BBC’s findings. A paramilitary-aligned health minister in Nairobi dismissed the allegations as Sudanese government propaganda.
