UN inquiry says Israel continued genocide in Gaza after ceasefire

A UN commission says Israel continued to commit genocide in Gaza even after the US-brokered ceasefire last October, citing continued attacks on Palestinians and the use of heavy weapons in densely populated areas.

In a report presented to the UN General Assembly, the Independent International Commission of Inquiry also warned of escalating violence and displacement in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli military offensives and illegal settler attacks have intensified.

The commission said 34,176 Palestinians remained displaced in the West Bank as of August 2026, marking the largest displacement there since 1967. It also accused Israeli authorities of crimes against humanity, including extermination, persecution and torture.
