Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper says the government’s Rwanda plan is simply an "extortionately expensive gimmick", "costing hundreds of millions of pounds" of taxpayers’ money.
Ms Cooper says a future Labour government would replace the scheme "because it could not simply be scrapped" – but would concentrate on border security and people smuggling gangs on the continent.
