The UN’s top court, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), will hear Israel’s response to a case brought by South Africa accusing Israel of genocide in the Gaza war.
Israel, which has called South Africa’s case "wholly unfounded" and "morally repugnant", will appear before ICJ judges today.
Earlier this year, the ICJ said South Africa had a right to bring its case against Israel and that Palestinians had “plausible rights to protection from genocide” – rights which were at a real risk of irreparable damage.
Meanwhile, there has been further calls for Israel to allow more aid into Gaza by reopening the Rafah crossing.
