SNP leader John Swinney has told Sky News that Rishi Sunak’s proposed visa migration cap is a "disastrous move".
The prime minister has said if his party is re-elected, a Migration Advisory Committee will look at the numbers to balance the country’s economic needs against the pressure on public services before suggesting a level to the government.
The government will then decide on a cap and put it to a vote in the Commons.
