Reducing knife crime will be a "moral mission" for Labour if it wins the general election on 4 July, Sir Keir Starmer will say during today’s campaigning.
The party’s shadow minister Nick Thomas-Symonds says it is "not an exclusively London problem" – and areas like Cleveland and Hertfordshire have seen instances more than double since 2015.
He says: "This is a nationwide problem that we absolutely need to, in my view, stand above the political point-scoring, and absolutely grip this problem."
