Barack and Michelle Obama have given impassioned endorsements of Kamala Harris, urging voters to back a "new chapter" and vote for the Democratic candidate for president.
In back-to-back speeches at the party convention, both of them called on Democrats to get out and vote and said November’s election was going to be close.
The former US president and first lady also both made reference to a renewal of hope and excitement in the party – a not-so-subtle reference to the huge crowds and unfettered excitement that the party felt when Obama first ran for president in 2008.
