Indian doctors end strike but protests continue after rape and murder of trainee | BBC News

Doctors at a top Indian government hospital in Delhi have ended an 11-day strike and protest against a rape and murder of a doctor.

The strike end came hours after an appeal by the supreme court called for doctors to return to full duties.

Demonstrations are continuing in Kolkata after the trainee doctor’s body was found earlier this month in a state-run hospital where she worked.

She had worked a night shift and her death sparked huge protests as well as a nation-wide conversation on violence against women in India.
