Home Secretary Yvette Cooper will make a statement in the Commons about the Chris Kaba case.
The 24-year-old was fatally shot by firearms officer Martyn Blake in 2022, and on Monday Mr Blake was cleared of his murder.
Sir Keir Starmer, speaking to reporters on his way to Samoa for the annual Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, said the jury’s decision had to be respected.
"I do understand the pressure that firearms officers operate under to make split second decisions in difficult and fast moving circumstances," he said.
He added the government will pick up the accountability review launched by the previous Tory administration.
