Labour MP Kim Leadbeater has spoken to Sky News about her bill to legalise assisted dying for terminally ill adults in England and Wales.
She said the legislation is "about autonomy and it’s about choice" and has safeguards to protect those individuals from external factors.
"Actually, the experiences that have been described to me, it’s not a brutal process. It’s actually a compassionate process with loved ones around you," she added.
The proposed new law has been formally introduced in the House of Commons where MPs will vote on whether it should proceed to the committee stage.
