Allan Lichtman, a historian renowned for his accurate predictions of nine out of the last ten U.S. presidential elections, faced significant backlash after incorrectly forecasting the 2024 election outcome. He had anticipated a victory for Kamala Harris over Donald Trump. Following the election, Lichtman reported receiving death threats via email and social media, and even faced two attempted break-ins at his home. Despite the hostile responses, Lichtman emphasized that most prediction models for the 2024 election were also wrong. His prediction model, “Keys to the White House,” uses 13 true-or-false questions to forecast election outcomes.
