Human Rights” Insanity Reigns … Canadian Town Fined And Mayor Sent For Compulsory Education After Failing To Hoist Pride Flag. Town Mayor: “There’s no flag being flown for the other side of the coin … there’s no flags being flown for the straight people.” ——————————————— [Zero Hedge 30 Nov] In a decision handed down last week, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario found that Emo, its mayor, and two councilors violated the Ontario Human Rights Code. Emo does not have a central flagpole, other than the Canadian flag over the front door of the Emo Municipal Office. One issue that factored greatly in the tribunal hearings occurred during the debate over the flag proposal, which the council rejected by a vote of three to two.
In the meeting. Mayor Harold McQuaker stated, “There’s no flag being flown for the other side of the coin … there’s no flags being flown for the straight people.” Doug Judson, a lawyer and a member of Borderland Pride’s board of directors, said that “the important thing we were seeking here was validation … as 2SLGBTQA plus people.” The tribunal ruled that Borderland Pride will be awarded $15,000, with $10,000 coming from the township and $5,000 from Emo mayor Harold McQuaker. Not only must the town pay the fines, but McQuaker and Emo’s chief administrative officer were ordered to complete an online course called “Human Rights 101” and “provide proof of completion … to Borderland Pride within 30 days” as recompense for their disobedience.
- Compelled Speech and “Human Rights” Overreach: The article highlights the case of Emo, Ontario, a small town fined $10,000 for refusing to fly the Pride flag. The author argues this exemplifies government overreach, forcing individuals and communities to endorse ideologies against their will under the guise of “human rights.”
- Double Standard and Discrimination against Non-LGBTQ++ Groups: The article criticizes the decision, stating that no other group receives special recognition or flag displays, implying a double standard and discrimination against those who do not identify as LGBTQ++.
- “Tolerance” Leading to Coercion: The author suggests a slippery slope from “tolerance” to mandated celebration and ultimately, enforced worship of the LGBTQ++ movement, characterizing it as a “cult.”
Key Facts and Ideas:
- The town of Emo, Ontario, was fined $10,000 for refusing to fly the Pride flag and issue a Pride Month proclamation after a complaint filed by the group “Borderland Pride” to the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
- The mayor was also fined $5,000 and ordered to undergo “Human Rights 101” training.
- The tribunal argued that the mayor’s statement about not flying flags for “straight people” was discriminatory and demonstrated a lack of understanding of the Pride flag’s importance.
- The article criticizes the tribunal’s decision as “Orwellian” and an example of unelected bodies compelling speech.
Important Quotes:
- “She [Dawson] ordered the township to pay the organization $10,000. Further, the mayor was ordered to pay Borderland Pride $5,000 and, along with the township’s chief administrative officer, to take the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s ‘Human Rights 101’ course.”
- “[The tribunal] found that this factually accurate statement was discriminatory because it ‘demonstrated a lack of understanding’ of the Pride flag’s importance and was ‘demeaning and disparaging of the LGBTQ2 community of which Borderland Pride is a member….’”
- “It started with “tolerance,” which led to celebration, but now, we see the worship of what is obviously an all-out cult, full of religious zealots, a requisite for civic acceptance.”
Overall, the article presents a highly critical perspective on the Emo, Ontario case, framing it as an alarming example of compelled speech and government overreach in the name of “human rights.” The author’s language is strongly opinionated and employs inflammatory terms, reflecting a conservative viewpoint skeptical of the LGBTQ++ movement and its influence on societal norms.
From the people
- If Pride Month is a human rights mandatory holiday, then it needs to be written into law, but it isn’t and fining a town for not having the resources to “celebrate” pride month is ridiculous. Saluting the Canadian flag is not mandatory. I don’t see any positive outcome here…
- A tiny town of just 1,300 people and no flagpole finds itself subject to a “quasi-judicial power” meting out “Orwellian” punishments.
- Wild. Canada just keeps going further off the ledge towards insanity. Public officials are now being fined and sent for 1984 style “reeducation,” simply because they did not fly a Pride flag. Make no mistake, this is compelled speech and is what the left wants in the US – Joe
- queer is the official state religion of our new fascist overlords who usurped power. The pride flag, and the rainbow symbol, are images of military occupation analogous to a swastika. We are forced to genuflect to their symbols of fascist oppression. – Joseph
