Palestinian Ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour broke into tears during a session of the United Nations Security Council on January 3, quoting a message left by Dr. Mahmoud Abu Nujaila shortly before he was killed by an Israeli strike on the compound in 2023.
The doctor’s message, left on a whiteboard used for surgery scheduling in Al Awda hospital, read: "Whoever stays until the end will tell the story. We did what we could. Remember us."
