Venezuela’s opposition leader has been freed, after she was reportedly detained leaving a protest against president Nicolas Maduro.
Maria Corina Machado reappeared in Caracas on Thursday after being in hiding for months. Machado accuses Maduro of stealing a presidential election last July. Her team says she was knocked off her motorbike, detained and forced to record several videos before being released. Venezuela’s opposition says there’s evidence that Maduro lost the vote. He’s set to be sworn in on Friday for his third six-year term as president.
