The Israel-Hamas ceasefire is supposed to begin at 8:30 am local time on Sunday, and the first phase is supposed to last six weeks. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned the deal would not go ahead unless Hamas provided the names of the first Israeli hostages it will be releasing. He also stressed that the agreement is temporary — and that Israel’s military is ready to resume fighting if it deems it necessary. As people in the region anxiously await the start of the truce, and the delivery of much needed aid to Gaza, Israel has carried out more strikes.
