Will PKK commanders follow Ocalan’s call to stop fighting against the Turkish state? | DW News

His statement was delivered by members of Turkey’s pro-Kurdish DEM party after visiting Ocalan in prison near Istanbul where he has been held since 1999. The PKK is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey and its western allies. If heeded by PKK fighters, Ocalan’s call could end a conflict that has ravaged the region for more than forty years.
