Trump says tariffs will correct trade imbalance | DW News

It’s been called the biggest gamble of Donald Trump’s second term so far – overnight, the US president’s long-threatened tariffs against his biggest trading partners, Canada and Mexico, went into effect.
The move has spooked markets and raised fears of a global trade war. Goods from both countries will now be slapped with a 25% levy. An existing 10% tax on Chinese imports has also been doubled.
