The Democratic Republic of Congo says it will not rule out giving the US access to its vast mineral wealth in return for security guarantees.The statement comes as the M23 armed group backed by Rwanda continues its advance in the eastern part of the DRC, after seizing territory including the main cities of Goma and Bukavu in recent months.
The DRC accuses the M23 and Rwanda of stealing its natural resources and is urging other countries including the US to buy minerals directly from the DRC rather than from Rwanda.
