French minister for Europe Benjamin Haddad says tariffs by US President Donald Trump on Europe are "unjustified".
Mr Trump recently announced a 25% tax on all car imports and car parts to the US.
Mr Haddad: "We don’t want protectionism or a trade war, it’s in no one’s interest, but the only way to make that clear is precisely to show that we have the ability to respond and to hopefully de-escalate."
