The number of people turned away at Germany’s borders increased by 45% in the new government’s first week in office. That includes around 30 people seeking asylum. On a visit to a border crossing with Austria, interior minister Alexander Dobrindt told DW that Germany would not shirk its humanitarian responsibilities.
