At least 7,000 houses — reportedly belonging predominantly to Muslims — have been forcibly vacated ahead of planned demolitions on May 20, under the pretext of targeting illegal Bangladeshis.
This follows the evacuation of more than 2,000 homes in the same locality after the Pahalgam attack.
Some Hindu-owned homes on the same government land are reportedly being spared, while many of the evicted claim to have been living there for decades.
