Hospital officials have said four people died after crowds of desperate Palestinians stormed a World Food Program warehouse in central Gaza to get food. Israel had imposed a near 11-week aid blockade on Gaza, generating a man-made humanitarian aid crisis, and recently allowed very limited aid distribution via its new US-backed aid system. The new aid system is coordinated together with a contoversial private US aid group called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. The UN has criticized the new plan arguing that it weaponizes aid by forcing Palestinians to travel to aid hubs in southern Gaza to access aid, thereby facilitating Israel’s plans to push Palestinian civilians from the north to the south of the enclave.
