Nato leaders discuss Ukraine war at summit | BBC News

President Zelensky spoke with EU Council President Antonio Costa about further commitments to Ukraine at the Nato summit in The Hague.

Costa said that Nato will continue giving full support to Ukraine and to continue to put pressure on Russia through sanctions.

“A just and lasting peace in Ukraine is urgent”, he said.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told Zelensky that he is “among friends”, and that he can count on Nato.

Ahead of a summit overshadowed by Israel-Iran conflict, Nato Secretary General Mark Rutte told his European colleagues to stop worrying about the US commitment to the Western alliance, and to focus on investing in defence and supporting Ukraine.

He also insisted US President Donald Trump and senior leadership had a "total commitment" to Nato, that came with an expectation of matching American military spending.
