The foreign ministers of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda have just signed a peace deal in Washington that they hope will bring an end to a decades-long conflict. Rwanda is accused of funding M23 rebels, one of the largest of over 100 militant groups involved in heavy fighting that has torn apart eastern Congo. The peace deal brokered by the Trump administration as well as Qatar will also help the US government and American companies gain access to critical minerals in the region.
