• This is an over reaction. First of all, it’s NOT “policy”. Second, just check the internet for publicly available information on just about anyone. There are sites out there that can search all types of public sources that can give you a dossier of sorts for a couple of bucks. Third, apply for a job that requires a background check. Fourth, you want a loan, what’s your credit score, let’s have a look at your credit score. Don’t get me started on all the data, google, Amazon and Meta have on your browsing and purchase history. I’m not saying, I feel good about any of this. In fact, I do what I can to protect my privacy. The fact that Palantir and Peter Theil are agglomerating all the data they can get their hands on, comes as no surprise. Lots of organizations are doing it at various levels, and personally I don’t like it. I don’t think it is productive to act surprised and vilifie Palantir or Peter Thiel. Instead, focus on laws and regulations that allows anyone to do this, while keeping a watchful eye on any actual government “policy”, that utilizes it for nefarious purposes. – BS Detective
