14 people reported killed by Sudanese paramilitary while trying to flee | DW News

The human rights organization ‘Emergency Lawyers’ says at least 14 people have been killed by Sudanese paramilitary fighters while trying to flee western Sudan.

They were killed in the city of El Fasher, in the Darfur region. It’s the last major urban centre still held by the army and its allies. A local administration — installed by the insurgent Rapid Support Forces — had told people to move out, promising they would be safe. The RFS has been fighting a civil war with the Sudanese army for more than two years. Around a million people are in El Fasher and nearby displacement camps.
