A total of 303 students and 12 teachers were kidnapped by armed men during an attack on St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in Niger state in north-central Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said Saturday. The updated figure revises an earlier count of 215 students. The numbers were adjusted “after a verification exercise and a final headcount,” according to a statement from Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, chairman of CAN’s Niger state chapter, who visited the school on Friday. Morgan Ayre reports.
