Rising bills, higher taxes and low growth push shoppers to leave Christmas spending late

High street retailers and shopping centres hoping for a last-minute Christmas rush have been encouraged by early data, showing footfall slightly up on this time last year.

It seems many have left their shopping late in anticipation of their final pay day of the year – with budgets tight and prices stubbornly high.
