European leaders are meeting in Brussels for emergency talks on transatlantic relations. They’re expected to discuss how to reduce reliance on the US for defense and trade.
The meeting comes after weeks dominated by Donald Trump’s threats to take control of Greenland. The US president had threatened to impose tariffs on goods from EU nations who expressed support for Greenland. He has since reversed his position, after saying that he’d a framework deal on Greenland with NATO Chief Mark Rutte. The terms of that deal are still unclear.
