The UK and EU have signed a free trade deal with no tariffs or quotas, just days before the end of the Brexit transition period. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen made the announcement, saying ‘competition in our single market’ will be fair and that the EU will have ‘tools to react’ if it is distorted. In a news conference, she also said they have secured five and a half years of ‘predictability’ for fishing communities.
