A man who’s spent 17 years in exile looks set to become the next prime minister of Bangladesh, nearly two years after student-led protests forced out the previous government. There’s still no official result, but Tariq Rahman’s Nationalist Party is claiming victory and has already received congratulations from India and Pakistan as well as the White House. Indications are the BNP has won 212 of the 299 seats in parliament. Bassam Bounenni reports.
