Africa Matters: Iran War Shockwaves

The fallout from the US-Israeli strikes on Iran is hitting African countries. As the war enters its third week, blocked supply chains have caused global prices for food, fuel and fertiliser to skyrocket. In Sierra Leone, fuel prices have jumped over 12%, forcing transport fares up and squeezing daily budgets for Freetown residents. It’s also worsening a humanitarian crisis in eastern DRC, where fighting between the army and M23 rebels over mineral-rich territory intensifies.
