Iran says no plans yet for another round of talks with US

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on April 19 that Tehran currently has no plans for the next round of negotiations with the United States. Speaking at a news conference in Tehran, Baghaei stated that no decision has been made regarding further talks. He did not completely rule out the possibility of negotiations but highlighted recent alleged violations of the ceasefire, including a US attack on an Iranian commercial vessel and actions in the Strait of Hormuz.

On 19 April, US Marines stormed the Iranian-flagged tanker M/V Touska near the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump stated that US forces gave the vessel “fair warning” before disabling its engine room, while Iran condemned the action as “maritime piracy” and vowed to retaliate.
