Israeli occupation forces carried out a major military incursion into the eastern area of Nablus city, in the occupied West Bank, to secure a visit to Joseph’s Tomb on May 12. Massive reinforcements entered the area, causing significant tension in the Palestinian city.
Nablus is one of the largest and oldest Palestinian cities in the occupied West Bank. Religious visits by Jews to Joseph’s Tomb occur several times a month and are heavily secured by Israeli military forces, often involving large military deployments, temporary closure of surrounding Palestinian areas, and restrictions on local residents.
